This was a case of, read one and want more! Some of this strikes me as a bit silly, but I still enjoyed it, and read this one fairly quickly. The Sticks really are unpleasant characters.

Last read: 6/12/08

I had a sudden decision part way through when I was ill that I would try and read a whole Blyton series - the Adventure series - which I managed by the skin of my teeth! It was a bit of a Blyton heavy month as I read 10!

I read 16 new books, and re-read 13 making a total of 29 for the month. 17 were childrens book and 12 were adults books.

The total for the year was 305 books, of which 218 were new to me, 87 were re-reads, 152 were childrens and 153 were adults books, which I think is a fair balance! 4 were audio books. I think I forgot to post one Jenny Nimmo book which would actually make the balance between adult and children's books exactly equal!

I've started a few that will get finished fairly soon in January I think.

Overall, a good year, I read more thn I expected to and found lots of good books by reading new authors instead of re-reading the same few all the time. Looking back on my A-Z of authors, I've read at least 2 authors for every letter except X and Y, where I only managed one. I've read 168 (I think!) different authors this year.

The most popular authors this year were

23 - Enid Blyton
15 - Anne Digby
9 - Rosamunde Pilcher, Michael Morpurgo
7 - Elinor M. Brent-Dyer
6 - Danielle Steel, Torey Hayden
5 - Jacqueline Wilson, Miss Read
4 - Erica James, Jim Eldridge (My Story), Maeve Binchy

I read 7 Mills and Boon books and 26 My Story books. Next year I will also have a biography tag I think.

Right at the last minute I managed to finish the last in the series! Not a favourite this one, I find some of it very dated and a bit silly. This copy is in a terrible state - the first two chapters are missing, and there are several pages falling out.

Bit of a rush now to get through these before the end of the year! I love this one, not sure why but I really enjoy the imaginary country of Tauri-Hessia, and the fancy clothes they all have to wear.

My copy of this book has finally given up the ghost and fallen to pieces! I like this story, tere are moments of being scared, funny moments, and a happy ending! And it's Greek! Only 2 more of this series left to read now.

This was an audio book on 10 CD's which has taken me ages to listen to as I can only listen when I'm on my own in the car! I do like listening to Harry Potter on CD, as I know the books very well now and tend to skip bits when I read them, this way I listen to it all!

This came as a real surprise - I thought I knew something about her because of the Two Fat Ladies fame, but in actual fact I knew very little and although it was quite heavy going in the middle, I did enjoy the book. She has led a very varied and interesting life.

This book tells the tale of an amazing women who adopts 9 special needs children. I found it absolutely compelling and just had to keep reading. Brilliant.

And this is book 300 which is the new target!

I loved this book! It brought back many happy memories of watching Blue Peter as a child, and made me laugh in lots of places.I was also very surprised at how rude some people were when they wrote to Blue Peter!

I am definitely not as keen on this book in the series as I am on the others, but I only seem capapble of reading children's books at the moment, and am now just over halfway through this series - I wonder if I can finish it before the end of the year?
